Guest Post: Q&A with What Maff Said

I did a Q&A with my good blogger friend Elena from Wild Bear this time last week and since most of the questions were fashion and beauty related, I wanted to do a Q&A with the perspective of a lifestyle blogger to suit all my readers since I always post the odd lifestyle  based post here and there. Today I have my new blogging pal and lifestyle blogger Maff from What Maff Said, answering some questions that I put together. Also, similar to my last guest post, I'll also leave his blog and social media links at the bottom.

Do you have any tips for identifying your own niche at the beginning of the blogging experience?
When finding your niche when starting out blogging, I would advise that you go into what you really enjoy at the time. If trying different make ups out is your thing, then why not try and get into a beauty niche? If you’re always traveling to different countries, then you could get into the traveling niche. By starting with what you know, it will give you time to settle and get into blogging.

What are your hobbies outside of blogging?
My hobbies outside of blogging currently consist of reading (When I find a book I like), swimming and playing either pool or snooker.

What encouraged you to start a blog and how do you stay motivated to keep posting?
The main encouragement to start a blog for me, was watching other people do it. Watching people being able to express themselves within their writing, images or even the artwork they make. After seeing all this, I though maybe I could do that.
Motivation is something I struggle with as a blogger, I really struggle to sit down and write out a new post that I have thought of. I could have the greatest idea in the world, but I’d never write it because I cannot motivate myself enough to sit down for hours creating it.

Do you have any big plans for your blog? Where do you see it in 5 years time?
Big plans for the blog… I’d love for it to one day be a ‘brand’. I would love for it to be a place where people can come for advice on different topics. I’d love to able to work with named brands, and for it become a job. It’s a long way off yet, but I know with hard work and determination, it will get there.

So your full name is Matthew. What’s the story behind Maff?
Maff is what most people call me. My family started it off, always choosing to call me Maff instead of Matthew. It has since stuck and everyone calls me it now. People seem to also remember my name, as how many people these days are called Maff?

If you could only pick one book to own for the rest of your life, which one would it be?
Easy! It would have to be; The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. Best book ever in my opinion.

Who is your favourite blogger right now?
Tough Question… hmm. There are so many good bloggers out there who I enjoy reading. I’m going to have to go with Justin Livingston Scout Sixteen at the moment. I really enjoy reading his blog.

What’s on your summer playlist?
My summer playlist consists of a lot of dance songs. Due to the awful British summer I have needed these songs to lift my mood.
Sigma ft. Ella Henderson – Glitter ball
Duke Dumont – Wont look back
Deorro & Chris Brown – 5 more hours
Jason Derulo – Want to want me
Major Lazer ft. MO and DJ Snake – lean on
Pharrell Williams – Freedom
Rudimental Ft Foy Vance – Never let you go
Calvin Harris Ft HAIM – Pray to God
Avicii – Waiting for love
Alesso ft. Roy English – Cool
Rita Ora – Poison
(The irony of writing this and complaining about the weather, I look out side and its like 30 degrees)

I’ve noticed that you enjoy travelling. What places are next on your travel list that you haven’t been to before?
There are many places I would love to travel too, but recently I have been thinking about going around the UK. Visiting all the different towns and cities that are here, meeting different people and trying everything that can be done. People often focus on going abroad and miss out on what they have here.
