Little Ways To Be More Self-Confident

About a month ago I had been a little run down with college work and university prep which overall ended up affecting my confidence for a while. However, because things have been getting a little easier lately and I have managed to get back on track with everything, I have started to feel a lot more confident about myself which has created a positive impact in my daily routine. There are a couple of things that I have had in mind recently that has helped me become more self-confident, which is why I wanted to share them with you all tonight so if you're feeling a little insecure or under the weather, then hopefully they will help you too.

1. Set goals and accomplish them. In my opinion there is nothing more satisfying than accomplishing something. I set goals for myself each day by making to do lists and making sure that I keep my diary organised so that I know that by the end of the day when I look back on my little lists, I have done something that day no matter how big or small it was.

2. I know this is a completely cliche tip but it really does work when you actually take it on board properly and that is to not compare yourself to others. I think the reason why people think its such a waste of a tip because it never works and people will always compare themselves to people who they think are above them is because they don't actually make it work. I definitely know how hard it can be not to compare and I know I have done it countless of times, but an easier way of starting this new habit is to come to the realisation that everyone started from the bottom and just because you might not be employee of the month doesn't mean that you can't be in a couple of months if you put in the hard work.

3. Do things that make you feel good. There is no point doing things that you dont enjoy and that get you down because it means that you are not going to put in 100% effort and in the end, there will be no point because you're not going to get the results that you thought you would get without putting in hard work and dedication. It would also mean that you're wasting your time that you could be using to do something that you actually enjoy.  Maybe if it's a requirement like going to school for example, then find ways to make it more manageable and fun. Make new friends or join a new enrichment class.

4. Be around people who have a positive influence on you and cut negative people our of your life. This was one of the most significant steps that I myself had decided to take recently and as hard as it was, it has seriously had such a positive impact on me. I feel so much happier now that I am not surrounding myself with people who brought me down, and have now begun to focus on those who I believe make me a better person, the person that I want to be. Friends should be there to support and inspire you. They should always make you feel comfortable to be yourself without the fear of judgement.

5. Don't rely on other people to give you confidence. Confidence isn't just something that happens, it's a journey and it should come from within yourself.

6. Whilst you are on this ongoing journey, a significant aspect is being able to learn to love yourself and embrace the features that you once used to be insecure about. Everyone is different which is what makes the human race so special and unique, so instead of pointing out and hiding that scar or birth mark, learn to embrace it because its very unlikely that someone else has something like that in the same exact spot as you so why not show off how you are different? Remember, imperfection is beauty.

7. Everybody has those days when they are a bit stressed out or feeling under the weather, but dont let that stop you from making yourself feel better. Whenever you feel like you are having one of those days then treat yourself because as good as it is to treat other people, it is just as good to treat yourself every once in a while. Now I'm not saying that you should go to your local sainsburys and buy yourself a nice bouquet of flowers or a box of chocolates, even though I definitely recommend, but taking a nice bubble bath or taking the night off to have some me time can be so beneficial.

Put away your homework for the night, make yourself a cup of tea or coffee and grab yourself a nice book. Reading or watching something uplifting can also have a huge positive impact and will certainly make you feel so much better about yourself. I frequently take the night off on Sunday evenings if I can to have a little bit of a pamper night and catch up on all of my TV shows because I simply enjoy doing it and its what makes me happy.
