How To Destress

It can be so easy for things to build up and get on top of us, which is why its so important to take some time out and make sure you are looking after your health and well being. Here are a few of my favourite ways to destress after a long day.

Treat yourself - Take advantage of being able to treat yourself because there may come a time when this won't happen so often. My favourite ways to treat myself are to have a pamper night and take a hot bubble bath. I also love having movie nights, YouTube nights or TV nights where I will catch up on all of my favourites.

Read a book - As boring as this may sound if you're not a big reader, it really does help to escape from the world for a couple of hours, and indulge into a new one, which can be so refreshing. I absolutely love reading inspirational books and there are so many out there. I have my eye on a few right now which I haven't yet. These are Girl Boss by Sophia Amoruso, Yes Please by Amy Poehler, You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero, and Strong Looks Better Naked by Khloe Kardashian.

Listen to calming/inspirational music or listen to your favourite music - My favourite music genre is of course Country music which pretty much everybody knows now if you are a common reader of my blog. I feel as though this genre fits all categories that I listed above. I personally think that it is so relaxing and is the perfect genre to just kick back and listen to. One of my favourite things about Country is that every song and music video has a story behind it and most of the time, they are somewhat inspirational.

Have a specific place that you can go to get away - Find a place that can become your place where you can go to get away from stress where you can be alone with your thoughts. You are so fortunate if you live near the beach, so take advantage of it because that is the perfect place to destress and clear your head. However, as long as it is meaningful to you and is a place where you feel like you can completely escape for a little while, then anywhere can be your place.

Talk it out - As daunting as this may be depending on your situation, it really is a therapeutic way to destress. This is because you are not balancing it all on your own shoulders which only ends up building up and getting bigger. There is nothing wrong with asking for help or just asking someone to be there and be understanding whilst you let everything off your chest.

Work out - Ever since I started doing more exercise, I have felt so much more relaxed and energised. Even just going for a little walk around your neighbourhood is a great way to clear your head and refresh. Take advantage of warm and sunny days because I know that in the UK, they don't come around often.

Remember how small our problems are in the grande scheme of things - Always remember that no matter how stressed you are right now, it won't last forever, and there are going to be more times in the future when you will feel like things are getting too much, but you will power through those times just like you've powered through them in the past.
