Product Review: Shadow Switch Dry Brush Cleaner

October 09, 2016

Last week I was contacted by a company who are currently working with the new and upcoming brand, Beauty Essentials. They were kind enough to offer to send me a free product from their beauty tools collection. I was so intrigued because I had never heard of a dry brush cleaner until now, so you can imagine how excited I was to try it out. I was made aware that their products are going to be available to purchase in Sephora and online once they launch their web page. However, this specific product is already available to buy on Amazon here.

I have to admit, once I opened it up, I did have my doubts because it just looked like a black sponge in a tin and I wondered how on earth it would clean my makeup brush. However, to my surprise, it worked! I have no idea how, but it did. Now don't get me wrong, it didn't do a thorough deep clean for it is great for a quick spot clean, which is what the brand advertised.
This product is fantastic for the average student lifestyle because it can be so unpredictable. I have already had countless of nights where I didn't plan on going out but ended up being persuaded to do so. I love experimenting with different eye looks for nights out and tend to use bolder colours than I would in the daytime, which is why this is so helpful because I don't have to worry about accidentally swiping black eyeshadow over my eyelids when I'm getting ready for my lecture the next morning.

The process is so simple and all you have to do is swipe your brush onto the sponge in a gentle circular motion until you start to see the excess product rub off onto the sponge. The sponge is also washable with some warm water and fragrance free soap, so you can use it as many times as you like. However, when I was doing my research, it was recommended to switch out your sponge ever two months.
