Inside Afflecks

Not long ago I wrote a post about my trip to Manchester Art Gallery with some of the girls on my University course. I also mentioned that I would write two more posts about that day seen as though I took an excessive amount of photos that I wanted to share. I was hoping to have these posts out sooner but my time has been completely taken over with deadlines, and so I began to abandon my blog for a little while. However, because its a Sunday and I do have a little time for myself right now, I thought I would get cracking.
Another place we ventured into that day was Afflecks, formerly known as Afflecks Palace! I don't understand why they never kept its full name, it makes it sound so much cooler. I had never heard of the place until I took my first steps inside. The only word I can use to describe it is a jumble! It's just a great big jumble of random stuff. Like one of those garage sales you see in American shows. However, as soon as I got past the limited amount of space, I started to really like it.
When I say Affleck's had near enough everything, I am not exaggerating! It was like being the Doctor's companion for a few hours whilst you jump from decade to decade the more you walk around. There was a tattoo and piercing studio, retro video games, an American sweet shop, fantastic art and graffiti EVERYWHERE, vintage designer and high street clothes, a massage room, psychic readings, cafes, a theatre, a hair salon and thats not even the start! I could have happily spent a full day in there going through all of the little shops and boutiques.
I could have literally used up all of my phones storage taking photos of all the artistic work alone. There was so much to see and even hidden little treasures like this Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe wall which I instantly fell in love with. I remember my Auntie having a wall quite similar to this in her small spare room which she uses to do her her and makeup, but hers was exclusively Marilyn. Me on the other hand, I definitely prefer Audrey! Nonetheless, it was definitely one of my favourite features in her house. I used to love that room so much when I was a little girl. It was every woman's paradise! A full room of Marilyn Monroe and darling makeup.
I can not wait for the day I make an Affleck's return! I feel like there was so much I still didn't see and would love to find a day where I could go and spend however long I like there rather than being a little rushed knowing that I actually went there for my assignment and not as a personal trip. This was definitely one of the best days I have had since being at University and as well as this blog post to remind my future self of the memories made that day, I also bought a little trinket box from one of the stores. It's stood on my shelf and coincidently reminds me of something my nana would buy which is the main reason I bought it. The box has the most beautiful picture of a fairy printed on the lid with the quote "Leave room in your garden for the fairies to dance" underneath.
