Working Towards Your Dreams

Dreams and aspirations always seem like just that, a dream. It's hard to realise that they are possible at becoming a reality if you are only willing to work towards them. One of my many dreams is to visit one of my favourite American cities, San Francisco. Although it may not be a big dream, its a dream nonetheless and I'm going to work towards it everyday until I reach it. Even just going to university and getting a degree is working towards this dream because without my degree, I'm not going to get the job I want and without a job, I won't have the money to be able to travel to places like San Fran. Here are five tips that I believe to be important when you find yourself in a bit of a rut, whether you're looking for motivation to go to the gym or wanting to tour Europe.
1. Think of the bigger picture - Where do you see yourself in the future? If you are able to vision that then it makes it easier to break this journey to you overall dream down into more manageable goals.

2. Get a sense of how you will feel once you have finished - This is probably one of the biggest motivators because if you have an idea of how you are going to feel afterwards, then you are going to want to work harder in order to be able to feel this sense of achievement.

3. Ask for help - One of the biggest reasons why people are so reluctant to start reaching their goals and chasing their dreams is because they don't know where to start. There is nothing wrong with asking for help, only if you ask the right questions of course. I don't think me asking my parents for a couple of thousands of pounds to go to San Fran would go down well, but perhaps asking them how I can be more sensible with my money and how I should start saving up would be a starting point. 
4. Remind yourself why you are doing this - There is no journey without bumps in the road, especially when working towards your dreams. The best way to get past these bumps is to remind yourself why you are doing this. Similar to the first two points, think about the the rewards in the end and how its going to make you feel.

5. Use these bumps as motivation to work harder - Whenever I have a downfall in life, I always try and use it to my advantage no matter how bad the situation may be. What else would you want to get out of it? If you are having a downfall then once you have dealt with it, pick yourself up and work harder.
